SUSTAINABILITY

Since the Uzin brands inception 109 years ago sustainability has been at the heart and core of everything we do and guides our six core values: Reliability; Appreciation; Prospects; Internationality; Balance and drive in our business practices and operations.  We believe that it is imperative to be giving back to our communities where we work, as flourishing communities and a thriving economy go hand in hand.

Coast Youth Family Trust (CYC)

We are proud to have an established partnership with Coast Youth Family Trust (CYC) for over 8 years. They invest in educational development and refer youth who find traditional education challenging and or come from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds to vocational/ apprenticeship pathways. We have supported CYC by in kind donations and over the years in partnership with (CYC) has been able to support and impact the individual lives of young people.

"We are hugely grateful for the support we have received from Walter and the team at UZIN UTZ South Pacific Ltd, which has enabled young people to gain vocational education, training, and employment, which they otherwise would have not been able to do"

~Josh Sandford, Director of Coast Youth Family Trust~

In addition to supporting CYC we also sponsor three children through The Children's Charity Variety who live and come from socio-economic disadvantaged backgrounds and the support goes towards their education and everyday necessities. Here is a recent quote from one of the parents of the children.

"I'd like to say the biggest of thanks to you and your company for being so; generous, kind for sponsoring my [child]. It has truly been the most amazing & blessed feeling ever & for that I thank you again.

I truly appreciate everything you have helped with, like new lunch box, new warm clothes & socks & shoes. Plus my [child starting] his 2019 school days off right with all his stationery & not having to miss out or stop a bill to afford it was a huge relief."

* Minor changes have been made to protect and respect the identities of everyone involved

This vital especially due to the ongoing socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 and as a whole the latest analysis of the New Zealand Government Wellbeing Budget shows investing in youth for us via CYC and Variety The Children's Charity will bring enormous socio-economic short and long term benefits. Especially as New Zealand has the largest opportunity in the OECD to invest in learning and development for youth and young professionals to increase the work effectiveness and preparing them for the future of work.

Environmental product declaration EPD

Our products are ideal for environmental building initiatives such as BREEAM or LEED; and New Zealand equivalents as per The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) and we can provide Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for a range of products. We are experienced in advising our clients on what products and or services to use for specified environmental, ecological or specified sustainability specifications.

We evaluate our entire extended value chain, including supply chain of our products and take a life cycle approach to assess the wider social, environmental and ecological impacts of our products. This includes and is not limited to the sourcing of raw materials to the production process, installation and disposal of products.

The new generation of the UZIN ECOLINE

With "Blue Angel" and EMICODE EC 1 PLUS

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the UZIN ECOLINE has stood for low-emission, health-friendly products. Nothing about that has changed to this day. On the contrary: the new generation of the UZIN ECOLINE, in addition to the EMICODE EC 1, has been awarded the EMICODE EC 1 PLUS and the environmental symbol of the "Blue Angel".

This allows you meeting the preferences of public and private customers even better and entirely without any compromises regarding quality and processing. The well-known “Blue Angel” seal isn’t just required for public tender more and more frequently. Even private consumers set store by a trusted symbol for health and ecological safety.

Life Cycle Assessment

LCA – Life Cycle Assessment

Life Cycle Assessment, based on the 1404ff standard, systematically observes the entire life cycle of a product, from harvesting and making the raw materials, to generating power and manufacturing products, to application, waste management, and final disposal, as well as all the transportation in between. It covers all inputs such as raw materials, energy, and all outputs such as waste and emissions into the environment. The collected data is used to generate performance indicators that describe the resulting strains on the environment. For example, the performance indicator for global warming potential (or “GWP” for short) represents the quantity of carbon dioxide generated throughout the entire product life cycle, and this the climate-damaging potential of the product.
